SYNCHRONIZED DOUBLES DRILL

Two fast hits. One clear picture.
The Synchronized Doubles Drill challenges you to fire rapid pairs with intention, not panic. It’s about rhythm, control, and syncing your trigger press with what your eyes are seeing. If your second shot keeps drifting, this drill shows you why.
Why this drill matters:
Most shooters can get one good hit. The second is where problems show up. This drill forces you to fire both shots quickly, but only as fast as your sights and grip allow. You’ll build confidence, not just speed.
It also highlights common issues:
Slapping the second shot without sight confirmation
Losing grip pressure during fast strings
Blinking or flinching under recoil
If your groups fall apart during doubles, this drill shows you how to hold it together.
Set it up:
Distance: 7 to 10 yards
Target: IDPA Down Zero zone
Rounds: 20
Reps: 10 reps, 2 rounds per rep
Start Position: Compressed ready
How to run the drill:
a. Start from compressed ready
b. On your signal, extend the gun and fire two fast, accurate rounds into the A-zone
c. Focus on grip, sight tracking, and clean recovery
d. Reset between reps and repeat for all ten runs

What you are actually training:
Controlled split times under speed. You are learning to fire two quick rounds while still controlling sight alignment and trigger press.
Visual confirmation in rapid cadence. This drill builds the skill of seeing what matters between shots, even when moving fast.
Grip pressure and stability. You’re testing your ability to hold the gun steady through recoil without collapse or compensation.
Trigger reset without rushing. Your focus is on a clean, fast reset that doesn’t interrupt sight tracking or control.
Shot accountability in high-tempo drills. Every shot must land where you intend. This isn’t about going fast. It’s about going fast with purpose.
Drill Tips
Fast doesn't mean sloppy. If your second shot isn't matching the first, slow your brain down and stay visually locked in.
The Synchronized Doubles Drill appears in Week 5 of the Fusion Targets 12 Week Pistol Program. It’s designed to build confidence when shooting fast and help shooters control recoil while keeping every round on target.
If you’re ready to close the gap between speed and control, the full program is waiting.
