HALF-SIZE BILL DRILL

Small target. Same demand.
Half-Size Bill Drill takes the classic six-shot Bill Drill standard and reduces the scoring area. Same time pressure, half the margin for error. It’s a fast, unforgiving calibration tool that separates real speed from illusion. With a smaller A-zone and zero room for slop, this version forces you to earn every hit. It’s the classic speed drill, just meaner.
Why this drill matters:
When you keep the same speed pressure but reduce the target zone, you demand more from your grip, trigger mechanics, and visual tracking. The smaller the zone, the less room there is for compensation. Grip pressure has to stay even, trigger movement must stay perfectly straight, and your eyes have to stay ahead of the gun. Any lapse in discipline shows immediately, which makes this one of the most honest ways to measure true control.
It also reveals these flaws:
Poor recoil control
Inconsistent cadence when speed increases
Rushing the trigger press without seeing the sights
If you want to shoot fast and still hold tight groups, this drill forces the discipline that makes it happen.
Set it up:
Distance: 7 yards
Target: Fusion Target™ Upper A-zone
Rounds: 6
Reps: 3
Start Position: Holster, or compressed ready.
How to run the drill:
1. Start from the holster.
2. On the beep, draw and fire 6 rounds as fast as you can while keeping all hits inside the Upper A-zone.
3. Repeat 3 times to assess consistency
Score each run by time and hits. Any miss invalidates the run

What you are actually training:
Recoil management under time pressure: This drill teaches you to control muzzle rise while keeping the gun in the fight during fast strings.
Trigger speed and discipline: You are developing the ability to shoot with consistent, quick trigger mechanics.
Cadence awareness: The drill forces you to find your fastest clean rhythm instead of just slapping shots out of the gun.
Sight tracking and accountability: You mus visually track the sights to ensure good hits.
Drill Tips
Fast only counts if it’s accurate. This is where you learn how much speed your control can actually handle.
The Half Size Bill Drill appears in Week 8 of the Fusion Targets 12 Week Pistol Program. It's a high-accountability version of a classic drill that builds control, rhythm, and honest speed.
